Podere La Rota

In the fall of 2008, we had our first stay at Podere La Rota. It's a little cottage in the Chianti region of Tuscany, near the village of Moncioni. The property is owned by Bob and Ally, originally from England, who live in the house adjacent to the cottage. Their business, Summer's Leases, offers houses, apartments, and villas throughout Tuscany and Umbria.

We think it's one of the most beautiful spots in the world, high in the wooded mountains, with a spectacular view from the terrace. The cottage is a one-bedroom with a living room, dining room, and kitchen—it has a very large bath, which Vicki says is the best in Italy. Podere La Rota is a wonderful place for a couple to relax and also to use as a base for visiting the surrounding countryside. The wine region of Chianti is quite close and Siena, one of our favorite cities in Italy, is only an hour drive. The city of Montevarci is only a twenty-minute drive and from there a train trip to Florence takes only about an hour.

We would highly recommend Podere La Rota to any couple who would like to experience Italy in a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Here's the link to their website:
